Getting verified on Instagram lets everyone know that you’re legitimate. Whether you’re an artist, influencer, person of interest, or anyone with a following it’s important to get that blue tick to show you’re legit.
Instagram now offer Meta Verified, a paid monthly subscription that offers a verified badge and other features. Some accounts will still be eligible for a verified badge without paying for Meta Verified if they are a notable figure.
Applying is easy, so lets look at how you can apply to get verified on Instagram first:
- Open Instagram and go to the page of your profile
- Tap the icon of a person and tap the hamburger menu bar
- Under ‘For professionals’, tap ‘Account type and tools’
- Tap ‘Request verification’
- Enter your full name and provide some form of identification (for example, photo ID)
- Follow the instructions and press ‘Submit’
Now you just have to wait for Instagram to review your application and respond to you. This may take some time and there is no specified time frame between application and a response.Once Instagram do review your application they will let you know whether it is approved or denied.
Verification is reserved by Instagram for accounts “in the public interest”, meaning you must meet
their community guidelines. Also consider:
- Even if your account is eligible for verification, submitting a request doesn’t guarantee that your account will be verified.
- Submitting multiple verified badge requests doesn’t guarantee that your account will be verified and applying for a verified badge multiple times before receiving a decision will cancel your application.
- Once verified, you may not change the username on your account, and verification cannot be transferred to a different account.
- Verifying your account on Instagram will not verify your account on Facebook. Visit the Facebook Help Center to learn how to verify your Facebook account.
- If you receive a verified badge using false or misleading information during the verification process, we will remove your verified badge and may take additional action to disable your account.
If it’s approved you’ll get the glorious verified badge of the blue tick! Now everyone will know you’re no impostor, you’re the official account.
